Best Brunch Places in DC
The ritual of Sunday Brunch has gained in popularity over recent years and although still not to the same level of holiness as in The City, Sunday Brunch has undoubtedly become one of the more popular times of the week for denizens in the District. Here are our picks for the best places to get brunch in DC:
Peacock Cafe – The location on Prospect street is fantastic and the food is hard to beat.
Open City – Easy and simple, Open City is a surefire bet for a pretty good brunch on a budget if you don’t mind dealing with a packed house and little privacy. The food isn’t to die for but it is decent.
Perrys – Not only does Perrys have fantastic sushi, but it also provides the best drag queen brunch in DC. Actually, it provides one of the best brunches in DC, the drag queens are just the icing on the cake. No pun intended. Ugh, I’m going to move on.
Pho 75 – That’s right, I’m throwing it down for Vietnamese food and guess what? I’m not the only one. If you go to Pho 75 on a Sunday afternoon you’ll be shocked by how packed it is and the reason for this is that Pho with copious amounts of MSG is a total hangover-killer.
Bistro Francais – The smell of crêpes emanating from this place on Sunday afternoon is enough to get it on the list. It’s simply intoxicating. They have a pretty broad array of additional options on the menu if the crêpes don’t do it for you.
Kramerbooks – It’s definitely a wide-open type venue in the mold of Open City but the food at Kramerbooks is probably a little bit better than what you’ll find at Open City.
Logan Tavern – In the emerging Logan Circle area, Logan Tavern is probably the most prominent and popular out of a handful of new restaurants that all cater to the weekend brunch crowd.
Great list–and thank you for not including Seqoia. It’s amazing how many people consider that restaurant a great brunch place.
Hey Brandon, do you have any recommendations for additional places? I’d love to hear…
