Buddha-Bar DC Announces New Executive Chef
(Buddha Bar via DC City Blog) – Buddha-Bar DC today announced new Executive Chef Simon Volante has joined the restaurant. Chef Simon Volante’s extensive experience with Asian-fusion cuisine makes him a strong asset to the highly-acclaimed restaurant and lounge.
Chef Volante, who trained in his native England before moving to the United States, most recently served as Executive Chef at the celebrated RED Restaurant & Bar in Los Angeles, located at the 4 Diamond resort, Pacific Palms Resort & Spa. Chef Volante successfully created and launched the Asian-fusion dining concept, prompting Los Angeles Times to call RED Restaurant & Bar “A Real Hidden Gem.”
Prior to his position at RED, Chef Volante created culinary magic at many of the world’s top boutique resorts and restaurants in London, Boston, Beverly Hills, Vail, Sedona, and Washington, DC. His inventive cuisine is focused on high-quality, fresh meats and seafood, as well as locally-grown produce.
Buddha-Bar DC co-owner Mikhail Don heartily welcomes the new chef, stating, “Chef Volante is a natural fit to lead Buddha-Bar DC’s culinary team, and we are thrilled that he accepted our offer. You can expect inspiring things from us this year, as I’m confident that Chef Volante will take our innovative, fresh cuisine to even greater heights.”
Already familiar with Washington, DC’s dining culture, Chef Volante served as Sous Chef at Aquarelle and Jeffrey’s restaurants in the former Swissôtel within DC’s Watergate; Lead Cook at The Jefferson Hotel; and First Cook at The Willard Room Restaurant. Chef Volante is excited about returning to the District and making his own mark on DC’s vibrant restaurant scene.
